Privacy notice

LocalMotor is a trading name of Local Works Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17527661, ICO registration [number]). We are the data controller for the personal data described below, except where we say we act as a processor. This notice explains what personal data we use, why, and your rights. Cookies
Each garage website has its own privacy notice, cookie notice and legal details, linked from its footer. Those sites count visits without a cookie banner, and a visitor can object on that garage’s cookie notice. localmotor.co.uk uses analytics cookies and has no cookie banner. To stop them, block cookies in your browser or contact us.

If a garage embeds a map or other outside content on its website, that provider may set its own cookies when you choose to load it.
Texts and emails
- Garage owners get account and request alerts as part of the service. You can choose text or email in Settings.
- Garages’ customers get texts only about requests they made, and reminders from the garage they used. Every reminder lets you reply STOP, and we stop.
- Before sign-up we may email a business once or twice about a preview website we built from its Google listing. Every email says how to opt out, and we won’t contact you again if you do.
Who we share data with
We never sell personal data. We share it only with the providers that run LocalMotor for us (hosting, database, sign-in, text and email delivery, payments and page-view counts; listed at localmotor.co.uk/subprocessors), with the garage you contacted, or where the law requires it. Some providers are outside the UK. Where they are, we use the UK’s approved safeguards.
Information from Google
Garage websites may show details, photos and ratings from the garage’s public Google Business Profile. Ratings are shown live from Google and not stored. Google’s privacy policy applies to what Google holds.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy to take elsewhere. Email tom@localmotor.co.uk. We reply within one month. If you contacted a garage, we’ll pass your request to them, because they decide about your data. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who need it, and accounts are protected at sign-in.
Changes
We’ll update this notice when how we use data changes, and tell account holders about important changes by email.
